I just can't wait.. I don't want a lot for Christmas..There is just one thing I need...
*drum rolls please*
BEAUTY ADVENT CALENDAR!
If you haven't gathered it already, I was singing (I meant writing, because my lovely friends will tell you that I cannot sing), the lyrics to Mariah Carey's song "all I want for Christmas". Yes. Yes. Yes. It is almost that time of the year, where we wish we were either cuddled up with our partners, organising meals and events or wishing about what presents we want to see under the tree. But really all I want is another beauty advent calendar. Oh my goodness..The thought of them just gets me soo excited, you know? All right calm your dirty minds!
And a FYI to all you Grinchs; my work office has been playing Christmas music since last week. I guess we all love the festive season. Spread the lurrrrveeee.
Gather your thoughts, as Christmas is not what I am going to be talking about. But the topic this week is beauty advent calendars. As far as I can think, these advent calendars first came or became a trend around 2015 - correct me if I'm wrong but that was when they caught my attention. So in 2016, I went and bought myself the Superdrug Makeup Revolution advent calendar. It was on offer for £25, so I thought might as well take it whilst its cheap right?! Initially I had bought the NYX advent calendar but that only had different shades of their liquid lipsticks, and the Makeup Revolution calendar was giving a variety of little cosmetics.

I loved it. I'd come home from work and open the numbered doors each day. Don't judge me, you all once felt the excitement of opening an advent calendar. And of course I followed the tradition last year and got the ASOS 2017 advent calendar. They had one for both genders, male and female. I was going to gift the male version to someone so I could show you all. But that never happened.
They claimed to say the advent calendar had items worth over £150, with the calendar itself costing £55.
I would say it is definitely worth getting yourself or asking someone maybe to gift you these. The season is all about giving right 8-).
Below I will show you some of the products I got in the advent calendar. The whole list is on my instagram @Priyana91:

Door 12, was the 111skin Gold brightening facial treatment mask. Oh this face mask was just lush. It felt luxurious, and very hydrating. The mask retails at £20. You can get a 5 pack rose gold mask from Harrods for £85, if you're willing to spoil yourself. I can't really give much of a review as I only used the mask I got in the calendar. But it did what it claimed on the packaging as far as I could tell.

Door 20, was the Alpha H liquid gold. Now I already had two bottles of this Glycolic acid toner. And I can only sing praises for it. It tones, exfoliates and strangely moisturises your skin. It really helped with my overall skins texture and helped to fade scars, so I was happy to have another travel size bottle. A 100ml bottle retails at £33.50.

Door 24, which was the final door. As door 25 was a coupon code. I was actually surprised to see the Foreo Luna play mini. Now this retails at £30. This is a skin cleansing tool, that uses sonic technology. This feels great on the skin as it feels like you're getting a face massage and cleansed at the same time. Only downfall is that, the Luna Play is battery operated and cannot be replaced. So after a 100 uses or so you have no option but to throw it in the trash. Sad times :(.
But hey even though I spent £55 on a beauty advent calendar, I still got some great products - so technically you would have made your money back! *thumbs up*.
I would say that if you did want to invest in a calendar this year then do some research of your own and see which calendar would be best suited for you or the person you would like to gift it to. And keep your eyes peeled as it's Black Friday next week! So you may find some calendars going for a discounted price, but don't wait around. I almost lost out on the ASOS calendar last year. Was out of stock for 2 weeks!
I'm currently in the process of choosing which will be my 2018 beauty advent calendar. Could you guess which one it could be. I'll give you a hint, it's one of these in the list.
Here's a list of the trending calendars for this year:
Now, I know what some of you are thinking.. "urgh it's all about make up and beauty". Before you get anything in a twist, I need to tell you. There. Are. Other. Advent. Calendars. Yes, you read it right, there are. Now let me do some more leg work for you and show you a few. For you protein lovers there is a Protein-Fuelled Advent Calendar £54.99 at myprotein. For Gin lovers, there's the Gin and Tonic Advent calendar at John Lewis £95. You get the gist now, there is an advent calendar for each of you beautiful baes.
I'm going to wrap this up now, and I hope you all have an amazing humpday searching for these calendars. And enjoy the run up to the gloomy yet festive weeks. And one small note I want to add, please don't feel pressured to buy any of these, sometimes being creative and making your own calendars with a personal touch is all it needs.
Until next time.
Lots of Love,
Pri xo
